How to join Youth Sentinel as a writer, editor, artist, illustrator, or student contributor.

Join the publication

Youth Sentinel welcomes student writers, editors, artists, illustrators, and contributors who want to build serious science coverage with clarity and care.

Youth Sentinel is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and PVSA-certified organization. For high school students, that means contributor work can also be part of structured, service-oriented science communication when it meets the publication's volunteer-hour guidelines.

How to start

  1. Review the article logistics and writing guide.
  2. Reach out with your interests, background, portfolio, or a proposed story.
  3. Work with an editor to shape the idea and move it toward publication.

Student service and PVSA

Students interested in volunteer-hour documentation should ask an editor about service-hour guidelines before starting. Eligible work may include writing, editing, meetings, and other approved publication support.
