Editors:
Responsibilities:
Must edit the writers’ articles and may even need to meet with them. Editor-writer meetings should be recorded for verification. Needs to attend weekly (or biweekly) newspaper meetings. Will be asked to oversee a certain number of writers, max is probably 3.
Deliverables:
Will need to edit their writers’ pieces. If writers want to do more than one per month, they should be okay with editing more than one per month. If not, speak with the writer and the Editor in Chief. Also will be asked to write at least one article per month.
Benefits:
2 volunteer hours for every article written. 1 hour for every article edited. Will receive hours for meetings, whether the newspaper meetings or outside meetings with their writers. Will be placed on the board of editors.
Established Writers:
Responsibilities:
Needs to attend weekly (or biweekly) newspaper meetings. Must reach out to one Editor in Chief and their designated editor if going to start a new article. If meeting with editors for paper revisions, editor-writer meetings should be recorded for verification.
Deliverables:
Should write a minimum of 1 article per month.
Benefits:
2 volunteer hours for every article written. Will receive hours for meetings attended and also extra time put in to meet with the editor. Will be featured as a permanent writer.
Freelance Writers:
Responsibilities:
If they reach out to an editor and an Editor in Chief stating that they want to write a piece, they should follow through with it. Keep in touch with the editor.
Deliverables:
Complete the promised article.
Benefits:
2 volunteer hours for every article submitted. Will not be featured as part of the organization. This is if writers just want volunteering hours without taking on too much responsibility.
